RE: Greek Gods
I am writing in response of your letter asking me to demystify the Greek God.
Greece is haunted by more than 3000 years of history and legends. Zeus was a brave warrior. Zeus was the king of Heaven and of Earth, who wielded the thunderbolt and was the father of Mortals and of the Immortal. His brothers, Poseidon is the Lord of the sea and Heades, is the Lord of Dead, whose Kingdom of shadows was thought to be beneath the earth.
Cronos was the evil monster who had 6 children –Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Hestia and Demeter. Cronos name means time – but it was only the Romans who pictured him as a kind old Father Time.
Once the Sky told him that “You may be our ruler now but your children will treat you just have you have treated them and worse.” He was warned he will go to prison. He took no care, and swallowed his children as soon as they were born. First he swallowed, Hestia, then Demeter and Hera and after that Hades and Poseidon. His wife Rhea couldn’t take this and soon took her youngest son, Zeus and hid him away in a cave on the Island of Crete looked after by the mountain-nymphs.
Then Cronos asked for the baby. She cleverly gave a stone wrapped in baby clothes which he was swallowed as well. The fully grown Zeus gave a magic herb in Cronos’s wine. This made him very sick and up came the swallowed children, who were still alive and very angry.
Then for 10 years Zeus, with his brothers and sisters, fought against Cronos and the Titans and beat them at last. Cronos and the Titans were shut up in a fiery prison under the earth.
Not all Titans had taken
