Gods and goddesses played important roles in the lives of the Greek and Roman people. The Greeks and Romans believed that gods and goddesses could control every particular detail of their lives. Some of the things they believed gods could control were weather, dreams, love, and war. Aphrodite, a Greek goddess, and Venus, a Roman goddess, were the goddesses of love and beauty. Aphrodite and Venus both were important goddesses that the Greek and Roman people still worship and celebrate t oday. The Greek goddess Aphrodite came to be sea-born.
