Psychologist-philosopher, Carl Jung, believed that everyone is born with an instinctive knowledge of certain archetypes, in which it is known as a universal symbolic pattern. The term archetype is defined as a model that allows people to understand the hardship of being human, allowing them to understand the nature of the universe and the human beings in general (Altshuler and Janaro 60). Characters, such as heroes appear in cultures from all over the world in different forms (Altshuler and Janaro 35). As it has been stated in the textbook, “The hero is an archetype found in almost every culture” (Altshuler and Janaro 36). An example of three heroic archetypes is the one who is on a journey, the one who is fated, and the one who is created.

Gregor fulfilled his prophecies and saved his family from the underworld of rats. Gregor is a character that is a heroic archetype that is fated to so save his family. It has been stated in a scripted book that he was the only one what could do it; therefore, a heroic archetype that is fated is the one that is usually on a quest to fulfill his duty. This is an example to the universal human experience because each person has a duty to do each day and what they can accomplish in their lifetime.
In addition, a heroic archetype that is created is Robin from Teen Titans that is an example of the self-archetype. Robin is just a normal human being that has trained under Bruce Wayne, to become a hero to other people. He is a natural leader; however, he did not just become “Robin” in one day. It took time and experience to become who he is and to help fight crimes.
