The Grouchy Ladybug The Grouchy Ladybug is a fiction book written by Eric Carle in 1977. This picture book delights and interest’s children as they wait to see who the ladybug will challenge next (Moravcik, Nolte & Fenney, 2013). This story helps children to feel more deeply as it examines the grouchy mood of the main character (Moravcik, et. al., 2013). The Grouchy Ladybug teaches by example as it examines manners and social issues without being condescending (Moravcik, et. al., 2013). Created with artistry, the artwork features brilliantly colored die-cut pages that increase in size as each creature she challenges gets bigger than the last. The arrangement of the book also introduces concepts of comparative size and telling time. The Grouchy Ladybug does not promote the sale of products.
