In education group work is used effectively in group assessment and also in class group work. When group work is used in higher education it builds a range of skills that students need for further learning. Group work assists in better education and can be effectually adapted to tertiary education. The use of group work in tertiary education assists in learning and builds cooperative behaviour. Conflicts that rise in group work effects the learning of students. Group work assists in student learning, builds cooperative behaviour and has conflict that affects students learning.
Students using group work in education is assisting them into better learning. The collaboration of students’ knowledge when working on a group assignment they can expand on every ones plans to build new information, abilities and comprehension that they didn’t have before coming together (Damon and Phelps 1979). Working in a group builds support of your peers, when understudies have the chance of working mutually together to develop new understandings, they create an understanding of the unanimity of motivation behind the team and the need to help and back each others learning (Gillies and Ashman 1998; Johnson and Johnson 1990). Being part of a group helps a individual build a sense of responsibility, it offers a mean of peer independence and then the student becomes some what accountable for the education (Bourner, Hughes and Bourner 2001). Most importantly being a active member in group work builds skills to work in a team, when being part of a working group and devoting and advocating their group members’ learning, they are exercising the skills of being part of successful group (Frey, Everlove and Fisher 2009).
