Do you believe that growing up in a community where drugs are destroying people’s families and there's kids that are growing up without a father are affecting their individual success? This can be harder for kids that grow up in these communities because they’re missing the guidance to what’s wrong. So kids that grow up in these communities soon start to do what others in their communities are doing too without noticing it's wrong.I believe that extrinsic factors, such as actions won’t be forgotten and growing up without a father, had the most impact on their success.

The authors Point of view of intrinsic and Extrinsic factors affecting individual success is that external factors play a big role in individual success. Throughout the book Wes makes a lot of bad decisions which impacts him, the decision and the people Wes chooses to hang out with, can create how Wes is viewed. In the text it states,”The choices we make about the lives we live determine the kinds of legacies we leave”.(185) What the author means when he quotes this is , the choices that we make in our life are action that won't be forgotten. This is an external factor that can be affect individual success because of the way we adapt to our surroundings.

In the book, the author tells us that Wes Moore grew up without a father as the author had as the author had a father for 3 years only. The text states, “your father wasn't there because he couldn’t be, my father wasn't there because he chose not to be”.(Wes Moore,1) What this quote explains is that Wes grew up without a father, and that can be challenging especially growing up because you’re not being taught a lot of things. So this tiebacks with the assertion because because growing up without a father can affect someone in a negative
