For quite a while, gun control has been one of the most discussed and controversial issues out there. Whether one is a supporter of “no guns” laws or finds it completely unnecessary for the government to intervene into the gun-person relationship at all, it is clear that something should be done about this. The correlation of stricter gun control laws and lower rate of incidents involving guns in some countries is often being presented as the way the US politics should be heading. At the same time, some people argue that it is not accurate to compare the US murder rates to only developed countries. And I consider this position the right one and think that we should not compare the US gun control to other countries’ experience in this area.…show more content… For instance, the incident that occurred in Newton, Connecticut, in December, 2012, was a reason to limit military-style weapons. Later on, two mass shootings in 2015, in California and South Carolina, brought the issue of gun control back on the news (Masters). "Our thoughts and prayers are not enough. It's not enough. It does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel, and it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted someplace else in America -- next week, or a couple months from now.", Obama responded to those tragic events (McKindy). Eventually, in January actions were taken in order to cut down the freedom of guns in the US. The President addressed that this is supposed to fix the issue since the US has more problems with violence that involves guns compared to other developed countries worldwide
