Christina Haas and Linda Flowers essay “Rhetorical Reading Strategies and the Construction of Meaning” changed my view on reading. In this essay, they conducted an experiment. In this study they took three different types of readers and compared their thinking strategies. The three types of readers were content only, content and function/feature, and content, function/feature, and rhetorical. Each of these three readers were completely different. Haas and flower explain content readers as “The reader may be questioning, interpreting, or summing content, paraphrasing what the text is about or is saying” (175). Content is the most basic type of reading, they get the essay but don’t fully understand. Haas and Flower mention function/feature
