Date Set: Monday 19th NovemberSubmission Deadline: 4.00pm Monday 26th November |
Task | Time Scale |
Task 1: Create a mind map on the structures, functions and interrelationship of the cell ultrastructure (use pages 10-19 of the OCR textbook).Take your mind map to Ms McGann on Monday. | 1.25 hours |
Task 2: Make a list of keywords and their definitions for the unit covered in Transport in Plants (structure & functions, cells and tissues, transport mechanisms, adaptations). Use your class notes, revision notes, textbooks and the websites outlined in the sheet provided (Alevel Bio revision websites).Put your list into the keywords section of your folder – to be shown to Ms Murphy/Ms Fleck in first lesson back. | 1.25 hours |
Task 3: Review and create a 10-question quiz with answers on the carriage of carbon dioxide and oxygen (use the textbook pages provided –OCR p64-67- and websites outlined in the sheet provided (Alevel Bio revision websites). To be to be shown to Ms Murphy/Ms Fleck in first lesson back. | 1 hour |
Task 4: Complete the Exam Paper provided, under exam conditions (be honest with yourself!) | 1 hour |

Learning OutcomesGrade C: To define key terms such as the golgi apparatus in the cell ultrastructure, the oxyhaemogliobin in the carriage of oxygen and the Casparian strip in plant transport. To achieve 60% or above in the paper – either first or second time!Grade B: To link the key terms together to create explanations for fundamental processes such as the uptake of water through the roots, the carriage and release of CO2 or O2 or the movement of substances in the cell membrane. To achieve 70% or above in the paper – either first or second time!Grade A: To explain in detail the processes such as the production and secretion of proteins, the transport of assimilates through the plant and the Bohr effect and necessity for fetal haemoglobin to reduce in infants.
