“My words fly up, my thoughts remain below. Words without thoughts never to heaven go.”(3.3.97-98) This is said by Claudius in the tragedy Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare. In the play Hamlet, Claudius murdered the former king Hamlet Sr. to get the crown and the Queen. Throughout the entire play, Claudius acted as if he was innocent and did not do anything, as he continued to make plots to kill Hamlet Jr. This quote proves that Claudius is acting because he states that the words that he says are thoughtless and that the truth remain hidden from heaven. Claudius is the best at acting and pretending in the tragic play Hamlet. He has killed Hamlet Sr. and does not tell anyone, manipulates Laertes into helping him kill Hamlet Jr., and pretends to be concerned about Hamlet Jr., even though he really wants him dead. To begin with, Claudius killed Hamlet Sr. and does not tell anyone. Hamlet Jr. discovers this because the Ghost of Hamlet Sr. tells him that he was murdered by Claudius so he could have the throne and the queen. The Ghost calls Claudius an, “incestrous, adulterate beast,” and asks Hamlet Jr. to take revenge for him.(Hamlet 1.5.43) Also, Claudius stops the play that showed how a king was murdered by his nephew and rushes out. This proves that Claudius really killed Hamlet Sr., the previous King, and is afraid that Hamlet will kill him because of what he has done.(Hamlet Synopsis 3.2, Barbara A. Without the exemplary acting and manipulative ways of Claudius, the fate of all those who died in the play Hamlet would have been very
