“Knock knock.” “Who’s there?” Disney’s The Lion King is a children’s movie about a pride of lions that lose their king due to a jealous brother and the runaway prince that is believed to be dead, due to a threat of the jealous brother. William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a play about a jealous brother that murders his own brother, all for the throne and perks that come with it. William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King are similar because both of the father’s die and are different because ­­­­Claudius marries Gertrude.
Hamlet and The Lion King are similar because both Hamlet and Simba’s father’s die. In Act 1, scene 4, Hamlet is seeing the ghost of his father for the first time since his death. The ghost motions for Hamlet to follow him and everyone thinks it is a bad idea. The other guards think the ghost will harm him or turn him crazy, but Hamlet goes anyways.
