As I explained before with the conflict between Hamlet’s faith and his loyalty to his father he was experiencing a crisis of losing himself. This is why it is argued on whether or not he was truly mad since it is widely known that Shakespeare enjoyed using insanity and for the self-destruction of his characters. The two characters he uses are Hamlet with his questionable madness and Ophelia. Shweta Bali believes that Hamlet expresses insanity because “he displays the duality of a single mind-madness and mental stability at the same time.” Between the murder of his father, leaving Ophelia, the ghost appearing and his mother quickly marrying his Uncle these could all be factors into Hamlet’s madness and causing him to become and act irrationality.
