Hank the sheep sat in an 18-wheeler semi-truck with 43 other sheep on a long trip to the slaughterhouse. Hank is a 6 years old sheep that was deemed unworthy to stay his original owners farm, whose name is Dave Katz. For 6 years, Hank stayed on Mr. Katz’ farm, located in western North Carolina. On this farm, Hank could roam free in the soft green grass near a small river on the edge of the farm. This farm was heaven on earth to Hank and his fellow sheep, he never wanted to leave. Dave is an old, mean farmer who has owned his farm for 82 years in North Carolina and has no family, his only goal is to make money. “Your wool is too rough and short, I won’t be able to make any money off of you. Hank was very upset, but the 43 other sheep that were with him all were optimistic and happy. Hank asked another sheep “Why are you all so happy? Hank continued walking down the road, only thinking about his freedom and not food, water, shelter, or possible predators. About 1 hour into the walk, Hank started to feel the beating sun on his thick coat of wool and he felt his stomach ache, craving food. Hank looked around for anything he could eat but there is no grass in the desert. The only things Hank could see for miles were rocks and sand. Oh no, thought Hank, what have I done? Hank looked for shade he could lay down in but he couldn’t find any. He decided to lay down on the side of the road. He was unprotected and started to worry about his safety. Then he saw something small approaching him, he started to get nervous. Hank thought if I sit here silently, it won’t be able to notice me. He sat there quietly, but the small animal was still running right at him. It got closer and he then realized, it was just a tiny mouse. “Hey” the mouse said in a squeaky voice, “I’m Mia. You don’t look so good.” “I don’t feel so good,” said Hank, “My name is Hank, can you please help me?” “Yes,” said Mia, “I know where some water is, follow me it won’t take
