Jazz is music of black American origin characterized by improvisation, syncopation, and usually a regular of forceful rhythm, emerging at the beginning of the 20th century. Jazz is associated with the American Jazz Tradition. It conveys a Jazz, Swing feel with features Improvisation. The beginning of this genre starts with early Jazz, which was first born in New Orleans where most of the best artists of Jazz came from. People like Louis Armstrong (Trumpet) “Father of Jazz” and Jelly Roll (Piano) who was the first important Jazz composer. The first Jazz recording was produced by The Original Dixieland Jazz Band. First recording included Livery Stable Blues, and Dixie Jazz Band One-Step. Many of the musicians of early jazz would become active in the next eras of jazz. Swing Era define the movement within Jazz. Swing Era music was popular in the U.S.A. and primarily music for dancing. The birth of Swing took place during the years of the Great Depression. Hard Bop distinguishes two functions Funky Jazz (relatively simple) and Mainstream Jazz (more complex).The term of “Hard Bop” was coined in the middle 1950’s by jazz pianist-teacher-scholar John Mehegan. Hard Bop is an extension/ evolution of 1940s Bebop style and ideals. It refers to the music of Jazz musicians who followed the Bebop era; people like Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie (Trumpet). Hard Bop was able to distinguish there style form Bebop, by producing hard sounds and develop new techniques. Some of the most important jazz musicians included Cannonball Adderley (Saxophonist), Art Blakey (Piano), John Coltrane (Tenor & Soprano Saxophone), Sonny Rollins (Saxophonist), and Horace Silver (Pianist).
