Hard Workers In Chris Lynch's Iceman

“Am I as cold as the ice I skate on.”This is a quote that was said by Eric in the novel Iceman by Chris Lynch. Eric is saying this quote when he realizes he doesn't care about others around him or their problems. So he goes out and plays hockey. The puritans would destroy the novel Iceman due to the lack of hard workers,lack of strong family values,and the law breaking citizens The puritans would oppose the book Iceman because of the lack of hard workers. Eric lacks hard work because he's too far in to trying to figure himself out and doesn't want to work hard. So he stops playing hockey. It is also to hard to just play the game, All he does is go out and injure people and it is to hard not to injure them.Duane lacks hard work everywhere he goes. He use to play hockey and football but stopped because he didn't want to work that hard any more. He sold all of his equipment and went out and bought a guitar but also doesn't practice that,he just strums it. Eric's mom also lacks the will to work hard. She stops cleaning the house after things get tough around her. She cant take all of the things going bad like Eric stop playing hockey and Duane getting in trouble with the police. There is only one law breaking citizen in this book and it's Danue. He breaks lots of laws,Back when he was playing hockey and football he was taking steroids to get big and dominate the ice/field. He said it makes him feel good. Later on when he was 18 and at his grandmother's funeral he was drinking beer underage and has been drinking for 2 years before that. His drinking has got so bad he always has to have a beer. One day he was driving and drinking and a cop saw and turned on there lights and had to chase him down because Daune tried to escape because there was beer cans all over the car and he know he is busted if he gets pulled
