American Slavery is a time period in history that will forever be remembered. The basic way to define a slave is that they were African American people who were own by other people. Slaves were forced to do hard labor with no pay, they were treated unfairly. That was their life style until many advocates, activists, and president stood up and made a difference for our African American people.
Although it says American Slavery, slavery did not originate from America.

Tubman was a slave her self, in 1849 she decided to run away after fearing she was going to be sold along with the other slaves including her husband.11 She set out and all she used was the North Star as her guide to her freedom. Tubman wanted to help other slaves be free as well, so she went back and helped them escape. In total she made 19 trips and helped over 300 slaves to freedom.12 Harriet Tubman “never lost a passenger”. 13 Tubman was a hero. After helping so many people she still helped, she took part in the abolitionist movement and anti slavery meetings. Grant finally waves the white flag, he surrendered to the north. The war would've gone on forever if he wouldn't have surrendered. When the south finally surrendered that meant slaves were finally free. After all that they have been through they had finally won. Millions of slaves may have been free thanks to the great Abraham Lincoln.
