The fight against slavery united both the African American women and men. Most of these people fought together and had similar goals and interests. In as much as the contributions of many African-American women activists have been overshadowed by that of their male counterparts, they played crucial roles (Bales and Ron 34). To begin with, they encouraged the masses especially the youth men and women who were afraid to rebel the discriminative rules of their white masters. They also used their literature skills to write narratives and books about slavery and the problems that the African Americana were facing. The following are some of the women who participated actively in the fights against slavery in America, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Elizabeth Freeman. …show more content…
She was never afraid to represent her people in all the fronts as they fought for their freedom. She presented several speeches to condemn slavery and the operations of the Congress which were against the pleas of the African slaves. Truth on the other side was acknowledged for mobilizing women after she escaped in 1826 (Franklin and Alfred 65). She was a vocal abolitionist how gave many women the courage to stand in opposition to the policies of their harsh masters.
