For my English Language part of my free reading project I chose to do the first option of the casting director with unlimited budget. For the lead role Jon Grady I would cast a slightly younger Harrison Ford. This is because Harrison Ford can take on a variety of characters like Indiana Jones who can go from a college professor to an action hero. Any actor who played Jon Grady would need to go through this character transformation. He would also in the movie would need to withstand torture scenes which Harrison Ford would portray will like he was in other movies. Harrison Ford is also known for comic relief and cool moments which would also help bring personality to Jon on the big screen. The next most important character in the book is the antagonist Hedrick.
Hedrick is the director of the BTC (Bureau of Technology Control) which controls extremely advanced technology like fusion reactors. He also spends most of the book hunting down Jon Grady and fighting with the federal government. I would cast a Die Hard 1 aged Alan Rickman to play Hedrick. He would play this role because of is experience playing similar roles like Professor Snape in Harry Potter and Hans Gruber in Die Hard. She is genetically modified by the BTC so she can best regular people both physically, mentally and in appearance. I would cast Jennifer Lawrence to play Alexia. This is because Jennifer Lawrence has played roles like this one in the past like most famously Mystique from the X-Men universe. In the book she is also described as being attractive to most people which would not be a problem for Jennifer Lawrence. Her character would also need to be complex because she would have to show her motivations for betraying the BTC and not just be a love interest to Grady at the end.
