America’s First Superhero, the Mr. Harry Houdini, was an amazing illusionist and stunt performer, noted for his sensational escape acts. “Few performers have ever captured the public imagination like Harry Houdini” (PBS). He wooed the United States with his amazing talent and charisma. Despite the many individuals who remember Harry Houdini as an amazing escapologists, very few knew of him before he were famous or how he got to become the amazing legend we still talk about today. His life was filled with bumps and turns and challenges like everyone else. Unlike everyone else, Harry Houdini fought for fame and won, but he had to start somewhere. The famous Harry Houdini was born officially known as Erich Weisz on March 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary (A Magician..). He was one of the many seven “children born to a Jewish rabbi and his wife. Erich moved with his family as a child to Appleton, Wisconsin, where he later claimed he was born” (Harry Houdini Biography).
