While he was there he didn’t just grow a memory, he grew character. In the book Hatchet Brian got stuck in a forest by a plane crash, he used these traits to help him survive.
Just because something is not happening to you right now doesn’t mean that it will never happen. Imagine being alone in a wild forest, anything could go wrong. In Hatchet, Brian needed to find a way to survive, he tried building a fire but it did not happen quickly. Being Patient is a very essential trait especially to survival, in this situation.
