There are generally three types of laws criminalizing hate crimes. To start off Laws that protects an institutional target which means it protects against churches, mosque and synagogue.

There are many different types of hate crimes. Laws that add punishment when the crime has been prosecuted as an assault or under another general criminal law. Here for an example, the defendant encounters sentencing enhancements. This which impose greater aggravated punishment when the defendant has committed the crime because of bias against the victim like how the cases with Matthew shepard and James Byrd Jr. happened (Toolkit). Also laws that protect persons based on their membership in a specified group is substantive offenses. The hate crime victims are including Anne Frank, Dr. Martin Luther king Jr, Harvey Milk, Daniel Pearl, and Yitzhak Rabin. Matthew Shepard. One of the incident happened back in the same year as James Byrd Jr happened in 1998 (Toolkit). Matthew was beaten to death by two individuals because of his sex life because matthew was gay a man and they didn't agree with him being gay because they claimed they hated gays (Toolkit). By my research i read that Matthew also survived a few days in coma. Before dying to be exact Matthew Shepard spent five days in the coma(Toolkit). To stop this madness of hate crime that's been happen for years I think that we all have to just come together to form an group. The group that we will form will be made to try to make peace. But for all we know in the communities, schools and other public places we don't know how long the peace is going to last. If we form the group to stop this madness maybe all over the U.S. everyone will start to follow along with what the group is trying to do and the problem we are trying to
