In my opinion, the reading that is more informative and useful for a person who knows nothing about the sugar plantations in Hawaii is article 1, Hawaii: The Land of Many. We are considered one of the most melting pots in the country. This article talks about three main things. The races, who came to work on the plantation, and traditions/religions.
First, races did certain jobs, depending on what race they were. The managers would also separate them on their production rates, paragraph 7.
