The purpose of this essay is to explain to a customer the purpose and use of a headstamp, the elements found on a cartridge, and some examples of the segments which can be found on cartridges. For the following essay I will be using Headstamp Codes by International Ammunition, and the BBS 100 textbook as reference material.
First to start off I will explain purpose and use for the headstamp on a cartridge. Myself being in the military have had to use the markings on the cartridges to be able to monitor is ammunition is safe to use. Before any range we do I would have to check for ammunition recalls.
