Health 444 was an exciting and fast-pacing course that definitely advanced my primary knowledge. Over the course of this semester I have gained a wider and more fulfilling experience with regards to community organization, advocacy, and health issues relating to communities. It has furnished me with remarkable information that I will keep on applying to my life. All throughout this course, I succeeded in identifying factors that not only contribute to social and health relevant to communities. For instance, the Selma assignment discussed social predicaments in segregated communities that involved developing racial equities, civil rights, and strategies appropriate for peaceful movements. This included communities and methods with which you can assess communities’ weaknesses, strengths, needs and others. Although it was the most challenging project assigned in this course, I learned how to describe and discuss the history for communities, state any appropriate goal/needs, provide necessary resources among other factors. With respect to this, I gained a better understanding of the elements of a community which will help me in making important and appropriate decisions about services. This will also help me in exploring new known issues and address them accordingly. I must admit that this assignment’s most positive factor was that it encouraged me to address underlying issues that are facing many communities similar to the one mentioned on the assignment. It motivated me into considering in any beneficial participation in organizations or groups that build lasting improvements for communities and the citizens.
