Heart Stem Cell Research
The general area of science this article is covering is biology. Biology is the science of life and of living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution. It includes botany and zoology and all their subdivisions. Stem cells are important because they have astonishing potential to develop into many different cell types in the body during early life and growth. In many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell. In this article they are recognizing Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) for the contribution to cardiac stem cell research. The initial focus was heart failure which is the inability of the heart to keep up with the demands on it and specifically, failure of the heart to pump blood with normal efficiency. Stem cell research uses the scientific method by the theory of stem cells being able to help birth defects, heart diseases, and stroke, repair damaged organs and many other treatments. The problem with being able to go through the all steps of the method is that there is such controversy with the research people think that you should not mess with human life and that humans are trying to play god. Some even argue that it will lead to the knowledge of cloning.
This article makes sense to me but it is not easy to point out any steps of the scientific method in this article. I felt none of the articles I read were very helpful from the Virtual library and wish I could have used a different article from another
