Before Helen Keller, people who were blind, deaf or handicapped in any other physical way were treated roughly. Helen Keller changed that in 1921 by organizing an American foundation for the Blind Founded to help people all around the globe who were blind. She was the first deaf-blind person to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree. She also wrote 12 published books and many articles and campaigned for women’s suffrage, worker’s rights and socialism.
