With his writings of spirituality and life based on nature, Henry David Thoreau is considered one of the most influential American writers during the 19th century. Many, to this day consider him a hermit, unsuitable for the social life and hatred for people, however his sole aim was in observation of nature. His essays, books and journal entries show his experiences in nature. They also give us philosophical and practical approaches on many subjects, including human nature towards nature and life. Thoreau’s achievements have influenced world renown philosophers and leaders including, Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr.
