Hera's Role In Marriage Counseling

When Hera was little, her father, Cronus, wanted to swallow her, what he does to his children. Just like that, but Zeus found his sister attractive and would not allow that to happen to her, so he rescued her. Unfortunately, over Hera’s life she was tricked. Zeus wanted to marry her for her beauty and charm, Hera was skeptical and declined, multiple times. Zeus was relentless and ended up tricking her very badly, to cover up the shame, she married Zeus and they were married for eternity. Hera’s life experiences makes her perfect to help others with their problems. Hera is best suited to be a marriage counselor because she makes sure there is justice, she is comforting in difficult situations, and is respected by the public.

Hera is respected by the public eye and is thanked everyday. “...she was venerated in every home. Married women turned to her for help.” (Hamilton 22-23) Hera was turned to for help, and her and her decisions were respected. Being respected plays a big role in being a marriage counselor because, if you aren’t valued in the room nobody will listen to you and shoot your opinions down immediately. Hera is a good leader when it comes down to strictly business. “Hera is the Queen of the gods….’The Queen of Heaven’” (Greek Gods and 1-4) Hera was known as the goddess of marriage and childbirth but, she was also known as the Queen of the gods and Queen of the Heaven because she was married to Zeus, the King of the gods. Just like the first lady as the president's wife, Hera has a lot of responsibility to run Heaven and the mortal worlds. It is a very grueling task, and not everyone can handle it. This might argue that Hera is too ruthless and cruel to become a counselor.However, Hera was the one being cheated on. Many people over react to cheating too, she wouldn’t be the first one. According to The Washington Post, “married men cheated at rates of around 50 percent,” (Anderson 2). That means that half of the married couples can relate to what happened to Hera, which could bring in more customers. Hera can use her disadvantage as her “friend” and help couples become better and
