Helena wants Demetrius to love her, but he hates her in response to her praise, but thanks to the magic of fairies, they end up married after all. She is disposed to do anything to win his love back, even follow him into unknown places with unknown dangers. However, he does not care and continues on to look for Hermia and threatens to harm her if she continues. Desperate to maintain a relationship with Demetrius, she states, ¨And even for that do I love you the more, I am your spaniel, And, Demetrius, The more you beat me, I will fawn on you…¨ (pg 46). Demetrius and Helena used to be lovers, but all of the sudden Demetrius lost is affection for Helena and is now in love with Hermia. Yet he shows no interest in Helena, his past lover, and even
