Hernan Cortes, marques del Valle de Oaxaca. Who was he? He explored the new world, conquered the aztec empire, and won Mexico for Spain. Hernan didn’t just explorer and conquer places but he also has a family and after all his victories he retired to spain.
Hernan Cortes was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain. His parents were poor nobles. At fourteen he was sent to University of Salamanca to study. He wasn’t happy with this and wanted to explore. Reading about christopher columbus adventure made him want to do the same. At nineteen he final set sail to explore the new world. He met her when he sailed around the tip of the Yucatan. They were given 20 women and some food. One of these women was Malinalli, his soon to be wife. Malinalli was bilingual. She knew Mayan and Nahuatl. Cortes heard of this and helped him in translating. Later she learned spanish too. Her reward for helping cortes was getting a volcano named after her and built a house for her. She and Cortes had a boy named Martin.
