In the mid 1990s, Tiger Woods emerged winning his first major golf tournament to become one of the most winningest golfer in history, everybody turned the tv on Sunday afternoon to watch Tiger win the Masters, FedEx cup or the U.S. Open. in his era he was golf’s Most Valuable Player. (MVP). MVP’S are people in sports or a workplace, at home or in just everyday life that sticks out. These people have something about them that sets them apart, they are leaders, have great skills/traits, and make a statement. In the book Surviving Antarctica there are five kids that are picked to trek to the south pole. Viewers of the show vote on a MVP. Out of the five kids Grace deserves to be MVP because of all her knowledge of the ice and snow from her grandfather and the inupiat legends and sayings she remembers.
One of the ways Grace showed how she is MVP worthy is that she is always brave and takes pride in diving her dogs and being willing without hesitation to take on extra work, weight or a new lead or role. When Billy came upon a large crevasse, the kids were very uneasy to go across a snow bridge they had found but when they asked Grace to cross first she said yes (299). When Grace was asked to cross first she was confident and proud to be asked to cross first.

One small thing for Grace is that every once in awhile she would get a little antisocial and sort of seclude herself from the team. In the book when she was on the ship there was a time that she was only with the dogs and did not help with much else in preparing gear or organizing things(119 ). This is only a small con against Grace and her sky high potential to be MV. Even though she doesn’t always interact with the team but most of the time she is a big help help to the group.
