INTRODUCTION
Every year since 1994, Nordstrom has awarded college scholarships of $10,000 to hardworking high-school students with dreams of a higher education. Paid out in equal installments of $2,500 over four years to the college of their choice, Nordstrom Scholarships give bright, deserving kids the help they need to achieve their goals. Application Deadline

May 1, 2013
5:00 p.m., central time

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, awards/honors, leadership, school activities, community/volunteer activities, financial and employment history. Awards are granted without regard to race, creed, color, religion, gender, or national origin.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Awards are for undergraduate study. The application form must be completed and submitted online by 5:00 p.m., central time, May 1, 2013. If you become a semifinalist, the recommender you list in your application will be sent an email on May 17 with instructions for completing the online recommendation. The deadline for submission of the online recommendation is 5:00 p.m., central time, May 31, 2013. If you have questions, you may contact at NordstromScholarship@act.org or 319-341-2248, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., central time, for assistance, excluding holidays.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible, you must: 1. Be a high school junior 2. Live and attend high school in one of the participating states designated by Nordstrom 3. Have participated in community or volunteer activities 4. Have and maintain a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 2.7 (on a 4.0 scale) throughout your high school career 5. Plan to apply for financial assistance to attend college 6. Be eligible to attend a four-year college or university in the United States 7. If awarded, attend an accredited four-year college or university in the United States during all years of the scholarship 8. Not have been convicted of any crime

AWARD INFORMATION
Scholars will receive up to $10,000 paid over four years in equal installments of $2,500, made payable to the scholar’s institution. Award checks will be sent to the institution’s Office of Student Financial Aid in August 2014. The school will be directed to divide the award by term (semester/trimester/quarter). In most cases the award will be credited to the student’s billing account to be used for educational expenses: tuition, books, fees, housing, and other costs normally associated with full-time enrollment.

NOTIFICATIONS
All applicants will be notified of their award status on the dates set out in the Timeline below.

RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation Deadline An online recommendation from a current high school official will be required for applicants who become semifinalists. The recommender will be asked to discuss how the applicant meets the selection criteria. Recommenders will be notified at the email address provided by the applicant in his or her online application.
