“High School Musical” Finding a balance between fitting in and staying true to who you are, are some of the struggles, Troy Bolton and Gabriela Montez, face this movie adaption of high school, called “High School Musical”. Though it is a movie and not real life, it contains many of the same struggles high school students deal with on a regular basis. Friends and parental pressures, socioeconomic status, and self-image are all things portrayed in this movie. The students are having to learn how to balance; wanting to please their families, friends, and themselves and still enjoying life while they are young. Despite all of the heartaches teen face in the movie, and in real life, following your heart and staying true to yourself is the best route to take during those formable years of high school.

Sharpay Evens is the best example in this movie. Sharpay’s attire is always sparkles and glamor no matter where she goes, she drives a nice car and expects everyone to treat her as though she owns all. Since, she views herself as the best, she treats others as less than her and is not willing to give anyone her attention she does not deem worthy. As she is head of the drama club, Shrapay gets every role she tries out for each year. Success has gone to her head and when anyone outside of her and her brother show interest in trying for a part in a musical, she will do anything in her power to stop them. She goes as far as convincing the director of all the drama club, to change the time of the try out auditions to precisely when Troy and the basketball team have a game and Gabriela and the debate team have a debate, just so they do not have a chance in trying out, as well.
