Most of the people’s perspectives about women performing in politics are very low. That’s why we have never seen a woman as a president in the White House. Myra Gutin, a historian of first ladies and a communications professor at Rider University in Lawrenceville, observed that "When Hillary Clinton was the first lady of The United States, she had an office in the West Wing, which made a lot of people unhappy. But there are people who are unhappy with Laura Bush for not taking advantage of the White House podium. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't" (as cited in Puente, 2008). In other words, she believes that Americans are really hard to please. The majority of the people expect from first ladies to perform an activist role, but at the same time they do not like to see when they get too much involved in politics. …show more content…
Although the public did not respond well to the ambiguity between her unofficial status and official political duties (see Figure 1), she later went on to became the first First Lady elected to the United States Senate and the first woman elected state-wide in New York. In the 2008 election, Clinton was a leading candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination (Black, 2009). As she has done many political accomplishments in serving the nation, Hillary Clinton now form part of the candidates who are most likely to win elections, and if she wins, she will become the first woman President in the United
