Hills & Hollows Day My name is Sylvia Slone and I am currently in the medical assistant program at Southeast Community College. On September 24th 2014, on the Whitesburg campus of Southeast Community College, we participated in the Hills and Hollows event. Our Whitesburg campus does this every year as part of the Mountain Heritage Festival. During this event, schools in our county could bring their children to participate in the events we had and eat some delicious food too. The college grilled hotdogs, they also had deer stew and fried potatoes, fixed on an open fire. Everybody at the college took part in doing something for the kids, some put on plays, there were a group making slime, they brought animals from the extension office for the kids to see, they had something for everybody to enjoy. Our MA class made paper fish that were colored on one side with a health fact on the other side, so that it could also be a learning experience. When the kids came into the classroom they got to fish with our homemade fishing poles, which had clothes pins on the end of the line. We set up a wall so they couldn’t see us, and when they casted their line over the wall we would pin on a fish and a bag with a snack. The snacks were either
