The dictionary defines an advertisement as a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event. An effective ad has a high impact or a noteworthy image or phrase. The ad should reflect the brand values and engage the target audience. The Hillshire Farm ad was featured in Men’s Health June 2018. The other ad is an Oscar Mayer Ad in Southern Living(month year). Both ads present sandwich meat. Even though these two ads successfully bring attention to the lunch meat they are presenting, their techniques are different because they are writing for different audiences.
The Hillshire Farm advertisement features an attractive woman eating and sandwich filled with Hillshire meat. She seems to be enjoying the sandwich. The picture of her fades into a picture of a farm and a fence. The caption reads, “Your rooster may be a phone alarm. Your tractor might be an SUV. But when your oven roasted turkey breast is crafted but nothing but heart and hard work, you’re closer to the farm than you think.” Adjacent to the end of the sentence is the Hillshire Farm Logo aside a sandwich. The words “You’re closer to the farm than you think” are in red against a light, plain background, while the rest of the slogan is in white against a neutral, dark background.

The ad features many contrasting colors in the sandwich as well as some spices on the side in front of a light, clear background. On the background in black bold letters it reads: “Real spices. Real taste. No artificial preservatives. Really”(Real Spices). On the top right the Oscar Mayer logo is clearly shown on a banner. Under the big bold words in smaller words, it reads: “Deli Fresh Blackened Chicken breast is free from artificial preservatives, and added nitrates : So, you can enjoy the great taste you want without the stuff you don’t” (Real Spices).
