Hinduism and Buddhism are two important religions that play a crucial role in the history of the world. Buddhism is a universalizing religion that cut away from Hinduism. The prophet of Buddhism is Siddhārtha Gautama and Buddhists have no gods, which contrasts with the 330,000,000 gods of Hinduism, that is atheism compared with polytheism. In this essay we will compare and contrasts aspects of Hindu and Buddhist gods, religious texts, and origins of each religion, in order to prove that Buddhism and Hinduism though they are different religions are similar in many different ways.
In both Hinduism and Buddhism, bases of beliefs are shared; however, Buddhism has no god, and Hinduism has millions. In Hinduism, the god Krishna is the one who created the caste system, separating the Brahmins (highest social class in India, typically including priests and scholars) from the Kshatriyas (social ranking directly below the Brahmin, typically including government rulers and military elite), the Kshatriyas from the Vaishyas, the Vaishyas from the Shudras, and …show more content…
We were able to learn that the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism are much more similar than we expected in ways such as their beliefs on the afterlife and smaller things such as the practice of meditation. But, within those similarities we also found many differences such as their outlook on gods and their basic origins. But from all of the information summarized in this paper, the similarities and differences are much more vast than we expected from our prior knowledge. Going in depth to the history, beliefs, and concepts when it came to these two much larger religions truly opened a world of knowledge from what we have previously known.
