The Origin of Hip-hop
Hop-hop, also called rap music, which is a popular music genre in recent years. It began among the youth in the United States, and rapidly spread around the world. Nowadays, hip-hop is not only a music genre, but also developed as a part of hip-hop culture, which contains four main elements: rap, DJ, breaking dance, and graffiti.
The Origin of Hip-hop Hip-hop music formed in 1970s New York City, especially among the African American youth residents in Bronx. At the inception, Hip-hop music was called “disco rap”, however, it is believed that Keith Cowboy created the word “Hip-hop”. His friend who joined U.S. Army, by scat singing the words "hip/hop/hip/hop" in a way that mimicked the rhythmic cadence of soldiers marching.

The Evolution of Hip-hop music
1.Early Hip-hop
Old School Hip-hop and New School Hip-hop Since 1979 to 1984, Old school Hip-hop music was famous at that time. It is the earliest commercially recorded Hip-hop music, but it ended around 1989 because of the change in both rhythms and music.Compare to later Hip-hop music, Old School Hip-hop has simpler rapping techniques. Old School Hip-hop aesthetic include Battle rap and Freestyle rap. New School Hip-hop was the second wave of Hip-hop music, and New York was the first place that formed New School Hip-hop.The origin of it was in the early records of Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J in 1983 to 1984.New School HIp-hop was influenced by rock, which music characterized in form by drum machine.(Chang,2006)

Golden Age Hip-hop Golden Age Hip-hop is a name given to a period in mainstream Hip-hop cited as between the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. The most obvious features of Golden Age Hip-hop are diverse, innovative, and high quality. One of the definitive characteristic of the Golden Age Hip-hop is the proliferation of sample-heavy music, and DJs did not need to formal musical training or instruments. Skeletal beats, samples cribbed from hard rock or soul tracks, and tough dis raps is the characteristic of Golden Age Hip-hop.(Alridge & Stewart
