World War II was a horrific event with a horrific outcome. However out of everything that occurred the use of the atomic bomb was the worse. The atomic bomb is too powerful and should never have been used on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

The Manhattan Project was the secret research and development of the atomic bomb. There were scientist involved with the making of the atomic bomb the most well known probably being Robert Oppenheimer and Albert Einstein. The bombs took three years of research before they could ever test the real deal in a deserted location in New Mexico. The bomb is made up of uranium-235 and plutonium-239, the bomb ignites when the neutron of one of the isotopes comes in contact with the other isotope. When the final testing happened the mushroom cloud reached 40,000 feet into the sky giving off the power of approximately 20,000 tons of TNT. When completed they needed to find out what to do with it since Germany (their intended target) had already surrendered. The only one left was Japan, and so their fate was set. However based on the weather conditions on that day the unknowing citizens of Hiroshima were bombed. The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima was nicknamed “Little Boy” for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The United States first plan was to do a land invasion but they soon realized they would have lost many more allied lives than what the bombs were expected to kill. So the plan began weather planes flew over the target cities scouting where there target would be, and so Hiroshimas fate was set on a bright no cloud in the sky day.
