1. How do the historians, Capeci and Wilkerson, explain the cause of the Detroit riots? Was the riot for personal gain, an irrational act, or a form of protest? As you reviewed the primary sources, what motivated the rioters to act?
The authors of the article explain the events in chronological order, they also describe some of the individuals who participated in these riots such as job rank, relationship status, and roots. The riots I think were a form of protests, many of the participants were trying to fight for equality due to the discriminations in public locations. Discrimination was still very present during this time period, although slavery was abolished many states and businesses found tactics they could use to continue to segregate
