1970’s Fashion
Would you wear the 1970’s fashion today? This decade was the decade of the hippies. There were so many different things trending in the 1970´s. However, wind suits, T-shirts, and jeans were very popular in both genders. Another popular thing was to have big hair and afros. The events of the 1970´s greatly influenced the fashion of the decade.
The 1970’s was a decade full of events. Although there was a lot of events, some of the popular events were the first Earth Day, “Ms. Magazine” being founded, and Nike being launched. They celebrated the first Earth Day on April 22nd, 1970, where many different organizations came together to protest for the harming of the environment. The next event was that “Ms. Magazine”, a popular fashion magazine, was discovered in July of 1971. A group of feminists found this magazine. This magazine showed the support of feminine ideas (Frankel 36). Nike, a very popular branch was launched, in 1972. It was a very popular workout brand, selling both shoes and workout gear (Frankel 41). These events have had a change on forever.

First of all, jeans were first worn as work pants and later became popular with all ages and both genders (Frankel 39). Baggy and wide legged were the popular jean fit (Stankevich). Wind suits and work out suits were another popular choice in the 1970s. Next, with Nike being launched in the early 70s, many people wore workout gear. This was one of the hottest and most popular fashions of the decade. T-shirts were another a popular choice in deciding what to wear. They mostly became popular with rebels and nonconformists.
