Hola Como Estas: My 8th Grade Spanish Class

“Hola como estas” is the sentence that usually started off my 8th grade Spanish class. A foreign language in my high school is required to graduate, knowing this made me nerves, i had never taken a different language and i didn't know what to expect. Some kids in class would replay to the teacher by saying “Bien, u usted” meaning “good, and you”? I never really thought about learning a new language and i knew it was going to be very difficult. Some days I sat and silence as these words and phrases left the mouths of the students and the teacher that i never herd before. Working at Kroger I meet all types of people, and some of those people don't speak english, which makes it kinda hard to help. I clocked in and begin my normal day at work, so i thought. As I'm working my cart of food a very small woman approaches me. I glanced at the woman and we make eye contact i greet her with a friendly, “Hello how are you”, i get no response with a dirty look. I was puzzled to see the woman being rude but i thought nothing of it and let it go. Later the woman walks down my aisle, she looks lost and confused. Despite her being rude earlier, i ask if she needs Assistance. She looks at me with a blank look and no response, i turn my back to walk away and as i do i hear a small voice whisper so faint you could hardly hear it. “Hola” said the little old woman, i was surprised when she finally said something because i wasn't expecting it, i was expecting a blank look with the silent treatment. I turn back about to be face to face with the woman to see if it was her or someone else but the woman was the only one there. “Hola” slipped out of my mouth as I'm trying to franticly remember my Spanish from high
