What if I told you that some of the long dreamed of technology in Star Wars is achievable today? Back in 1977, people had big dreams of a world filled with the advanced technology in Star Wars. Today some of that technology has been achieved and surpassed while other technology still does not have an answer. Throughout all of the movies there is a wide variety of technology ranging from droids to space ships and lightsabers to holographic communication. The holographic and robotic technology in Star Wars associates and differentiates to from our modern day technology. Holographic technology, with time has become more advanced than it used to. As a matter of fact, holographic communication only became successful a few years ago. The technology …show more content…
Though the modern holographic technology made by researches is not as advanced as the technology in the technologically advanced movies. “…they say that other 3D telepresence technologies demonstrated before required moving parts, complex projection systems, floating particles, or they were simply optical tricks or computer-generated special effects. In other words, they aren't true holograms” (Guizzo). This shows the modern holographic is large and uses multiple parts. Star Wars holographic communication is much smaller or larger and does not have lots of parts to the devices. Hand held devices are used most often for holographic communication, with devices small enough to fit in the pocket, whereas modern technology uses lots of cameras and moving pieces, not easy for transportation. Holograms in Star Wars are also used for games, maps and diagrams, entertainment, news etc. and modern holographic technology has so far been limited to communication. There are any differences and similarities between modern and Star Wars technology, another piece of technology is bionic …show more content…
Limbs in Star Wars are most often found as hands and arms. Both sets of limbs are both very fluid with their motions, so what makes them different? The limbs in Star Wars look very realistic and organic along with the ability to be fully functional and feeling. Modern day technology has not been able to make realistic limbs. “…technology seen in the films bears an almost absolute resemblance to natural limbs and other body parts save for the distinctive material they are made of compared to organic material the natural limbs and other organs they replace. Such precision is not considered possible by current technological means…” (“Technology in Star Wars”). This illustrates how the limbs differentiate from the movies and real life. The limbs in the movies are grafted with a material that gives the limb a very organic ad realistic look to it. Modern technology has not been able to achieve a realistic look to the limbs due to the limitations of technology. Prosthetic limbs and holographic communication are just a few pieces of technology
