There are over 70 million homeless cats just in the United States alone, in need of a loving family and somebody to be there and provide for them, just like us humans. Homeless cats are subjected to all types of cruelty and miscare, and for no apparent reason, other than the fact that people are inconsiderate and ignorant of the other animals, with which we share our planet with. Cats have proven to be some of the most loving and innocent creatures there are, and just like human beings, they deserve to be treated with care. All the motherless kittens not only across the U.S, but across the whole world, who may have lost their mothers to natural causes or from abuse from humans, should have the adequate care and shelter, as well as a loving …show more content…
This is one of the reasons shelters all over the world are filling up with homeless cats. (“Shelters bursting with Homeless Cats”) All those cats, simply seeking a family that loves them, and provide a safe shelter with the adequate food and water to simply survive is not much to ask for. Not only do they suffer from not having the minimal food and shelter to continue living, but the majority of these poor creatures also suffer from humans abusing them, mentally and physically. Everyday they are attacked with weapons, being run over or hit with cars, people beating them, and in some horrific cases, even hung and shot at with pellet guns (Fulvio). This is very sick behavior for anyone to do to such a poor and innocent creature, and is punished very harshly by means of jail time. One might wonder why a human being would consciously attempt to harm a peaceful and harmless creature in any type of way and it is in light of the fact that the fact that people foolishly assume with no prior research or knowledge that cats do not have feelings like us humans do, however recent studies show that cats do have feelings, and as a matter of fact, the feelings they experience are almost exactly identical, and similar to that of which humans feel, and that they can experience emotions we feel in our everyday lives such as sadness, anger, and pain. When a cat is harmed physically, it can feel pain just as we humans do whenever we are hurting, and can cry out in pain just like us. One example is when a pet cat in Al Raha gardens was shot by somebody with an arrow, however it did survive after somebody recognized its painful screams for help (“Pet Cat Shot”).
