How did the experience affect you? The experience really affected me greatly. The reason it affected me is, because I feel so much pity for all the different homeless people that are among our community. To see this many people in need of a hot meal every day is sad. These people do not have any place to call their home, or even a place to lay their head at night. I feel like as a community we should be doing more to help these people out. Many of them are our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and even veterans that have served our country. The needs of the populations that I interacted with this assignment is the need for volunteers to help out with feeding the homeless, and donating food to the shelter. When working in the kitchen a lot goes into it then just passing out the food. First, you have to have someone pick up the donations that are given by the community, we have to get it sorted out, get it cooked, and prepared, get it served to all the people, and then we have to clean up afterwards. This takes a lot of time, and patients. In order for it to flow smoothly, we need a dedicated team. If we do not have the help that is needed, then it can be really hectic in the kitchen, and really hard to manage. Another thing is we need is more volunteers to help donate food. Many times, I have worked at the shelter, and we have run out of food. It is very heartbreaking to have to turn someone around, because we have no food left. The look on their faces just makes your heartbreak into pieces. If we can get more people to donate more food, then we will not have to turn anyone
