A homologous trait has a similar embryonic origin whilst analogous traits are similar in function (OpenStax College, 2013). Several animals in varying climate use camouflage in order to maintain survival. This trait is an analogous trait as it exists in several animals of varying origins. They do not share similar embryonic stages, but rather share their intent, to hide themselves from other animals. This is an analogous adaptation that ensures survival. We will take a look at animals that live in rainforests and how they adapted to their environment.
