A homologous trait has a similar embryonic origin whilst analogous traits are similar in function (OpenStax College, 2013). Several animals in varying climate use camouflage in order to maintain survival. This trait is an analogous trait as it exists in several animals of varying origins. They do not share similar embryonic stages, but rather share their intent, to hide themselves from other animals. This is an analogous adaptation that ensures survival. We will take a look at animals that live in rainforests and how they adapted to their environment.
Phasmatodea or walking sticks live in the forested areas. They use camouflage to blend in with their environment to avoid predators. They have the uncanny ability to appear like part of the plants
