While the leadership component of National Honor Society will greatly benefit me, my primary reason for joining is the opportunity to work with my classmates to volunteer and help those in need. I have spent the last six years volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall. St. Vincent’s is a homeless dining hall where those in need can always find a warm, well balanced meal. Their doors are open twice a day, serving food that has been donated from local bakeries and supermarkets. Since I was eleven years old, I have volunteered there on a monthly basis. I talked and walked among people, that others are afraid to look in the eye, when I was just a child.
