As a kid, I never really thought much about the big picture. Like many of my peers, I spent most of my time socializing and completing daily routines. Even in such an unpredictable world, I found it easy to get caught up in unimportant arguments and daily work. My transition from this mindset into a broader perspective marked a major turning point in my life. The transition began as a normal volunteer opportunity at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. At first I was not sure what to expect, but after serving dinner and getting to know some of the guests I had a wonderful experience. The amazing people I met there helped guide me toward greater optimism and happiness.
