In Susan Glaspell’s newspaper article the “Hossack Murder Case” shows evidence of the wife of Mr. Hossack of the defense attorney and the prosecutor plays gender roles with her being a woman, and a mother. In the article, the defense attorney, uses her role as an advantage. Women tend to be looked to be emotional and weak at certain times, which the attorney points out that specific things in Mrs. Hossack.“His repeated declaration that the gray haired mother, sitting there with bowed head in the midst of her children, is a murderess, must constitute a fearful ordeal..” (Glaspell 191). This attorney is playing it perfectly declaring her role as a women to be depressed and rough looking. This is how a wife is suppose to act when her love past.
