Good will always win over evil, that is what this book has taught many. This can be seen in many places in the book, including the death of the Alacrans, the victory over the Keepers, and, most importantly, the death of El Patron. Karma seems to have a way of taking revenge in this novel.
Fairly late into the book, we learn of the death of all of the Alacrans, El Patron’s family. This retribution was in order for a long time for their great amounts of bad karma they stockpiled in The House of the Scorpion. It was quite clear that they were antagonists who we were not to find likable. One example of their evil behavior is in the chapter Property of the Alacran Estate, the third chapter, page 23, where Mr. Alacran states that, “(Matt is bleeding) ‘All over the sheet! We’ll have to burn it. Take the creature outside now.’ ” This established the Alacran family quite quickly, they were cruel mean people who would let a child bleed to death before allowing a clone in the house. Not only does Mr. Alacran act disgusted, so does much of the staff and family upon Matt’s arrival in the Big House.
